40s Favourites features songs that were popular in the 1940s. Some may still be popular today, others have slipped into obscurity but 40s Favourites visits them all.

I am very thrilled to present 'My Pick Of The Forties' on The UK 1940's Radio Station. I'm an avid collector of 78 rpm records and have built up a large collection of 1930's and 1940's dance band music over the years which I am very pleased to be able to share with the station's listeners.

James presents his show 'This thing Called Swing' on the station. James trained as an actor at the Royal Scottish Academy of Music and Drama and later as a musician at the Guildhall School in London. He led the internationally renowned Pasadena Roof Orchestra from 1996 to 2002. He created the Solid Senders Orchestra to play the music of the Swing Era and later the New York All-Star Big Band with whom he continues to perform. He is also a busy voice-over artist who has recorded more than 100 audiobooks, winning a prestigious Audie award in 2013 for his work on Astray by Emma Donahue. James was born in York, England, and is now based in New York City.

The Armed Forces Radio Services recorded transcription discs of popular radio shows and big band concerts for the forces serving overseas. Often shows were also broadcasted on shortwave radio.

The girl next door quality of GI Jill's voice, and her obvious love for the G.I.s she was talking to and playing music for made her the most popular voice on the AFRS. "Jill" was actually Martha Wilkerson (1918-1999)
