Jeff Bressler - 'The Make Believe Ballroom Show'
00:00 & 12:00 Hrs Saturday and Sunday GMT

Jeff Bressler I have been a Golden Age of Radio and Big Band sounds of the 1930s and 1940s enthusiast for decades. After a long career in radio and TV broadcasting, announcing, public relations and marketing, I decided to lay back and devout all of my broadcasting time to my commercial-free ode to vintage radio. and music via my two programs, Retro Radioland and the Make Believe Ballroom.

The Make Believe Ballroom had its origins on the radio starting in the mid 1930s and stayed a daily program on WNEW 1130 AM in New York until the late 1980s. My parents always had the dial set to 1130 so at an early age I gained an appreciation for the music I would love the most up until this day.

The Ballroom has had a few attempts at revival, but never lasting for more than a couple of years. As the latest guardian of the Ballroom I sees no reason why I will ever relinquish the post.

The Make Believe Ballroom not only features the sounds of the Big Band era but also focuses on the stories behind the music with great recollections and sound recordings of some of the great musicians talking about the era.

I am honored and privileged to be a presenter on the UK 1940s station. I feel that this station features the best music and an array of the finest presenters who cover this treasured era.
